Representative Pat Marsh

110 War Memorial Building

Nashville, TN 37201

Dear Representative Marsh,

It is a pleasure to formally announce your endorsement by Tennessee Right to Life’s Political Action Committee. Your willingness to stand firm for the cause of life is an encouragement to pro-life Tennesseans throughout the state and we are grateful for the significant advances made during the last session. Because of your efforts and those of other pro-life members in the General Assembly, the following were accomplished:

Ø      Passage of SJR 127, calling for a public vote in 2014 to allow restoration of common sense provisions stricken by activists Judges. Among others, these needed protections include informed consent for women considering abortion, a 48 hour waiting period, and the regulation of abortion facilities;

Ø      Reaffirmation that Coercion is Criminal in Tennessee by requiring that such policies be clearly posted at all facilities where abortions are performed in our state;

Ø      Defunding of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s leading promoter and performer of abortion. Now first priority for distribution of family planning tax dollars must be given to local health departments rather than private non-profit entities such as Planned Parenthood. Additionally, decades-old language giving preferential treatment to the abortion promoters was removed from Tennessee’s law books; and,

Ø      ‘Opting Out’ of Abortion Mandates which were included in the federal healthcare plan passed in March. With your support, Tennessee’s Legislature became the first to send a clear message to the President and Congress that Tennesseans will not use tax dollars to kill innocent unborn children.

As the state’s oldest and largest pro-life organization, Tennessee Right to Life is deeply grateful for your demonstrated commitment to making passage of SJR 127 a priority. With your continued support we can accomplish the work of restoring common sense protections to the unborn, the elderly, and the medically dependent and other vulnerable Tennesseans.

For these reasons, Tennessee Right to Life is proud to endorse your re-election to the state House. We will communicate the endorsement to our members before early voting begins and urge the active support of every pro-life voter in your district.

Toward that Goal,

Brian Harris, President

Tennessee Right to Life
