Pat Marsh, one of six children from a tight knit family, was born in Fayetteville, Tennessee on January 6, 1949. Raised in Lincoln County, Marsh graduated from Fayetteville Central High School and went to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business majoring in Transportation.
After graduating from UT, Marsh began his career with the Ford Motor Company at their Nashville glass plant. In 1973 he moved to Shelbyville and joined Goggin Truck Line – a small company with six tractors and twelve trailers. He worked his way up and eventually bought the company and grew it to 500 tractors and 1000 trailers, which employed over 1000 people. He sold the company and started Big G Express a trucking company with his brother Jack in 1995. Today Big G Express has 350 tractors, 800 trailers and employs over 500 people.
Pat has announced that he will seek re-election to the Tennessee House of Representatives in the 62nd District. In announcing his decision, Rep. Marsh stated, “My family and I are very grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support and encouragement during this process. We are humbled by the overwhelmingly positive comments sent our way,” he continued. “I am incredibly fulfilled serving the people of the 62nd District in the Tennessee General Assembly. This has been the greatest opportunity ever afforded to me, but there is still much work to be done to make Bedford, Lincoln, and Rutherford Counties the best possible community in the state of Tennessee.”
